So I am going to take the plunge and re-upholster my living room wing back chairs.
I am very excited, nervous etc about doing it. Lets face it, they are in horrible condition. My dog decided they were her chew toy when we first got her.
Since that time I have wanted to take on the challenge. I will have to replace the cushion and repair the bottom of the chairs but I really think it will all be worth it in the end.
I have spent a BUNCH of time reading up on how to do DIY upholstery and I think I am set. I have also previously reupholstered a couch so I think I have enough know how to take this project on.
Now for the hard part. Choosing the fabric.
I really want to make a big change with the chairs. I want
them to look great and stand out. I also don't want to go too crazy though.
So I am going to post a few of the fabrics that I would be alright with and let you give me your opinions on what fabric I should use.
Here are the possibilities.
The top 2 you will recognize from the fabrics I chose for my pillows but I really love it and would have no problem putting it on the chairs as well.
So let me know your thoughts of what and why you would choose.

Frustrations!
Don't you hate it when you have this great idea that you think you will be able to pull off and then your aspiration is impossible!
I decided to rip up my carpet and extend my laminate flooring throughout the living room.
BUT the manufacturer of our laminate flooring has decided to discontinue that particular style...so if any of you have some spare cottage oak laminate flooring by Harmonics laying around let me know!
Okay wishful thinking I know but worth a try!

Fabric, Fabric, Fabric and a Giveaway!
So the first item on my list of things to update my living room is well on it's way to being finished :) I have decided to make my own colorful throw pillows, so I loaded up the kiddos in the car and headed out to Joann's Fabrics. I found lots and lots of prints to choose from.
Do you love this Fabric! I fell in love with these fabrics and had to get all three. Thanks to one of my favorite websites I found this AWESOME tutorial on how to make my own throw pillows.
Look, I made my own pillows. Two of them! Can you believe it! Okay I am just a little bit excited, but this is really a big deal for me. I didn't even have to refer to the website after the initial glance. I really love this pattern because I can switch out the pillow any time I want as it opens in the back..ingenius plus it was easy peasy to make.
Now for the really exciting thing..I will be doing a random drawing for a pillow. The pillow will be made out of one of the 3 fabrics...of the winners choice!

Experiment
My husband and I have owned our house for almost 5 years and although we have made a lot of improvements to it, it still has the sense of being a house instead of a home.
I always wanted my place to be the one where all of my kids and their friends would come to hang out. Now that I have 2 kids I figured I better start making that long time goal of mine happen.
When did I realize that my house was not the hang out place..well that happened the first time I was to host play group for my 2.5 yr old and his friends and the moms.
I will be honest...I panicked.
My house was to put it plainly a mess. A layer of dishes and food thrown from the highchair coated the kitchen. My guest bathroom wasn't horrible but not in guest condition and a nice thick layer of dust covered just about everything else.
HOW DID THIS HAPPEN???
I am by no means a super clean person but I am not a messy person either. I think that it happened because I have fallen into the stay at home phase where no one sees me or the house besides the kids and husband so why should I worry? I know they love me regardless of what I look like or what state the house is in.
BUT they are the people that I want the house and myself to look nice for so I know it is time for a change.
I am the type of person that needs a goal. Something to hold me in check and someone to be accountable to.
This blog is who will be holding me to my goal...and hopefully anyone who reads it will do the same :)
I will try to be as brutally honest and show not only the after cleaned up and beautified pics of my house but also the embarrassing pics as well.
Here is to hoping that this will work and I will have a HOME that I will be proud to have others enter.
